Benjamin Netanyahu seeks immunity on witch hunt corruption charges – New York Post

“In order to continue to lead Israel to great accomplishments, I plan to approach the speaker of the Knesset … in order to satisfy my right, my responsibility and my objective to continue to serve you for the future of Israel,” he told press reporters throughout a press conference.

Netanyahu stated he is the victim of a partisan “witch hunt” and requires defense from “exceeded up charges.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday stated he will ask parliament to grant him resistance from three corruption charges versus him– a move that would postpone his prosecution for months.

He was indicted in November on charges of bribery, scams and breach of trust after he failed in two efforts to assemble a governing bulk.

Netanyahu would need the backing of 61 of 120 legislators in the Knesset to be given immunity.

A trial can not start till the parliament decides the issue, which isn’t likely to take place up until after elections on March 2.
